The old town and the Saale are part of the story.
The ensemble does not stand alone. Lanes, hillside location, river, leather industry and former border explain why Hirschberg looks the way it does. That is why 17 tours connect the house with the region.
Our corner
Where the mountain makes room for the Saale.
A narrow strip of old town lies between the castle rock and the river. Lanes and old houses gather here – with Winkelglück right among them.
Only around thirty to fifty metres separate the house from the Saale. After about fifty metres, Hag Nature Park begins at the suspension bridge. Wenzel Cave and the gondola station are close by. According to legend, King Wenzel found shelter in a cave on the Saale; in 1479, King Vladislaus of Bohemia reaffirmed the town’s historic privileges. History and legend are as close here as rock and river.
