Hirschberg an der Saale mit Schloss über der Stadt

About us · the story behind Winkelglück

An ensemble worth keeping.

In Hirschberg’s old town, close to the Saale, vulnerable historic buildings are intended to become a lived-in place once again – carefully restored and open to guests.

Private restoration and hospitality project · in development

Why we are doing this

Not a museum. Lived in again.

Old houses are preserved most convincingly when they are useful again. The holiday apartments provide a new use without concealing the history of the place. Traces of the existing fabric are intended to remain legible; new technology and comfort will be integrated quietly.

Wald- und Flusslandschaft bei Hirschberg an der Saale

The old town and the Saale are part of the story.

The ensemble does not stand alone. Lanes, hillside location, river, leather industry and former border explain why Hirschberg looks the way it does. That is why 21 tours connect the house with the region.

Architectural approach

Outside, the story of the place remains.

The houses are not intended to be reinvented from the outside. Their proportions, timber framing, wooden galleries and traces of history will remain legible. We will add only what use, safety and durability require – quietly, with suitable materials and respect for the historic context.

Innovation that stays in the background

New technology. More of the holiday.

Inside, we are planning a discreet smart-home concept that brings comfort, energy use and operation together. In time, solar energy is intended to supply part of the building. The digital idea does not stop at the apartment door: the website links the stay with tours, places and current events – turning a holiday apartment into a complete visit.

Before guest release

What still needs proof.

  1. 01Prioritise seven lead routes and fully field-test three hero routes.
  2. 02Clarify the change of use and approval path for Apartment III and fully separate every cost line from other funding routes.
  3. 03Publish the Winkelglück action fund of €1 per completed booking only after a decision, recipient agreement and transparent purpose.
  4. 04Document partner roles, content approvals and review responsibilities.
  5. 05Check access, closures, openings and image rights for every released dossier.

Thuringia, made tangible

The house tells us where its objects come from.

Stone, wood, glass, ceramics and porcelain are not decoration. They are used, explained and continued as journeys – to their place of origin, workshop or factory shop.

01

Material-led

Robust, able to age well and suited to the historic fabric.

02

Regional

Origins become visible without claiming partnerships that have not yet been approved.

03

Visit-ready

Every object can become a path to production, craft and regional value creation.

04

Repairable

Care, replacement and manual operation remain part of the quality concept.
