About us · the story behind Winkelglück
In Hirschberg’s old town, close to the Saale, vulnerable historic buildings are intended to become a lived-in place once again – carefully restored and open to guests.
Private restoration and hospitality project · in developmentWhy we are doing this
Old houses are preserved most convincingly when they are useful again. The holiday apartments provide a new use without concealing the history of the place. Traces of the existing fabric are intended to remain legible; new technology and comfort will be integrated quietly.
The ensemble does not stand alone. Lanes, hillside location, river, leather industry and former border explain why Hirschberg looks the way it does. That is why 21 tours connect the house with the region.
Architectural approach
The houses are not intended to be reinvented from the outside. Their proportions, timber framing, wooden galleries and traces of history will remain legible. We will add only what use, safety and durability require – quietly, with suitable materials and respect for the historic context.

Innovation that stays in the background
Inside, we are planning a discreet smart-home concept that brings comfort, energy use and operation together. In time, solar energy is intended to supply part of the building. The digital idea does not stop at the apartment door: the website links the stay with tours, places and current events – turning a holiday apartment into a complete visit.
Secure the buildings, keep distinctive traces visible and plan interventions transparently.
Connect Thuringian materials, furniture, ceramics, glass and craft with the places where they come from.
Two apartments form the launch offer; a third is planned as a later extension phase.
Planning status, partnerships, openings and image types are labelled clearly. Requested does not mean confirmed.
Who is behind it
Winkelglück is being developed as a private restoration and holiday-apartment project. Partners from craft, tourism, culture and conservation will be shown only where cooperation has actually been agreed and evidenced.
